Medical Director

Dr. Ibrahim Mujir

Dr. Ibrahim Mujir is the founder of Al-Shifa Clinic, and has been volunteering as its medical director for the last 20 years. He is the brains behind establishing and growing this free clinic. Through hard work and determination, Dr. Mujir succeeded in opening a community-based, non-profit, charitable organization which serves the health needs of the uninsured, low income, and underserved community. Dr. Mujir is a board-certified specialist in family medicine and has special interests in the areas of preventative health and management of chronic diseases. Dr. Mujir graduated from Gandi Medical College at Osmania University in Hyderabad Andhra Pradesh in India. He completed his internship and residency at Hennepin County Medical Center in 1997.


Student Physicians

Dr. Suanur Kayaalp

Dr. Kayaalp received her medical degree from Gaziantep University School of Medicine. She enjoys her time at Al-Shifa Clinic, where she is able to provide preventative and maintenance health care to an underserved population. Dr. Kayaalp enjoys playing table tennis, badminton, and trying to improve her piano skills. In her free time, she loves sitting and conversing with friends while enjoying a cup of Turkish coffee. 

Dr. Cemil Kayaalp

Dr. Kayaalp earned his medical degree from Kocaeli University School of Medicine. He is passionate about Al-Shifa’s mission as a free clinic to provide medical support for vulnerable populations. In his free time, Dr. Kayaalp enjoys going for peaceful walks while contemplating life, reading (especially auto/biographies and books on etymology), and traveling historic sites, especially those that have left some sense of human touch behind.


Rotating Physicians

Dr. Javaid Saleem

Dr. Saleem is a practicing physician at North Memorial Health Maple Grove Medical Center. He is an accomplished family physician, having practiced for over 25 years. Dr. Saleem obtained his medical degree from the King Edward Medical University. He competed his Family Medicine Residency in St Vincents Medical Center.

Dr. Ehtaisham U. Mohammed

Dr. Mohammed is a practicing physician at Ridgeview Belle Plaine Clinic. His goal as a family physician is to provide health care to the entire family, from infants to adults, and to provide preventive and maintenance health care. Dr. Mohammed successfully completed his medical degree in Deccan College of Medical Sciences, and his Family Medicine Residency in Western Michigan University School of Medicine. 

Dr. Saima M. Ahmer

Dr. Saima is a family medicine specialist in Brooklyn Center, MN, and has over 23 years of experience in the medical field. She received her medical degree from King Edward Medical University and her family medicine residency from St Cloud Hospital.

Dr. Amin Rahmatullah

Dr. Amin is an accomplished Cardiologist who has been working at Metropolitan Heart & Vascular Institute since 2002. Dr. Rahmatullah completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Hennepin County Medical Center. He then finished his Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In his spare time, Dr. Rahmatullah enjoys biking, running, and reading fiction. 


Our Volunteers

Abdullah Shahkhan (left) is an incoming undergraduate student at University of Minnesota. He has yet to decide his area of interest in the health sciences, but he is excited to continue volunteering at Al-Shifa clinic. In his free time, he enjoys reading books, riding a bike, and playing tennis.

Zaid Ahmed (middle) is currently a premed in his 3rd year at University of Minnesota. His extracurricular activities include watching and playing soccer as well as collecting sneakers.

Abdullah Naser (right) is currently a premed in his last year at University of Minnesota majoring in Human Physiology. He enjoys reading books and watching TV shows.
